Installing Dispatcher Phoenix on an MFP

To register Dispatcher Phoenix on an MFP, do the following:

  1. Register the MFP. Dispatcher Phoenix includes an MFP Registration tool that allows you to automatically discover MFPs on your network. To register an MFP, do the following:

    1. Open the Dispatcher Phoenix application.
    2. On the top right of the screen, select Tools, and then MFP Registration Tool…
    3. Select Find MFP.
    4. Check the checkbox next to the MFP that you would like to register. Note that you can select multiple MFPs at once. Then, select the Select button.
    5. On the MFP Registration Tool’s home screen, the Status column on the right will show which MFPs are registered and which are unregistered. Check the checkbox next to the unregistered MFP you would like to register, then select the Register MFP button.

  2. Build a new workflow with the Workflow Builder. Dispatcher Phoenix makes it easy to design advanced document workflows that are customized for your business needs. The next step to install Dispatcher Phoenix on an MFP is to build a workflow that includes the MFP Panel Node. To build this workflow, do the following:

    1. Open the Dispatcher Phoenix application.
    2. On the top navigation bar, select the New Workflow… icon. This will open the Workflow Builder in a new window.
    3. In the Collect area of the Workflow Builder, select the MFP Panel icon and drag-drop it onto the Workflow Builder canvas.
    4. Double click on the MFP Panel icon to open the MFP Panel Node window.
    5. In the Available Registered MFPs area, check the checkbox next to the registered MFP you would like to use, then select Add to Node. You can also select the registered MFP you would like to use and drag-drop it into the Selected MFPs area.
    6. Select Save when you have finished.

  3. Complete the Workflow. Now that you have added a registered MFP to the MFP Panel Node, you will need to complete to the workflow. Do the following:

    1. In the Process area of the Workflow Builder, select any process node icon and drag-drop it onto the Workflow Builder canvas.
    2. In the Distribute area of the Workflow Builder, select any distribute node icon and drag-drop it onto the Workflow Builder canvas. The Output Folder Node is a good one to start with for beginners. Double-click on the Output icon to open the Output Folder window. Select the ellipses icon next to the Choose an output directory. Select a folder in your directory, then select Select Folder.
    3. Select Save when you have finished.
    4. Select a connector (red arrows on the left-hand side of the Workflow Builder) and then click the MFP Panel Node icon and then the process node icon. Select another connector and click the process node icon, and then the output node icon.
    5. Select the Validate icon at the top to check if the workflow is valid. You can do this by tapping the F12 key.

Accessing Dispatcher Phoenix on an MFP

To access Dispatcher Phoenix at the MFP panel, do the following:

  1. Open the Dispatcher Phoenix application, select the workflow that you built in the previous section, and then select Start/Resume Workflow icon at the top.
  2. At the MFP panel, navigate to the MFP’s Home screen.
  3. Tap the APP button.
  4. Tap the Dispatcher Phoenix button.
  5. If you have configured your MFP to prompt for user authentication, log in with your username and password, then tap the arrow button.
